Celebrity Couples – Miami Celebrities Shareef Malnik and Gaberielle Anwar

without comments

It’s pretty cool to see local Miami celebrities playing out a love story in our city when all we hear about is celebrity couples breaking up. Gabrielle Anwar and Shareef Malnik ‘s relationship shows no signs of trouble ahead.  Even though Anwar is filming the USA Network hit Burn Notice and working up to 18 hour days the Miami celebrities manage to stay close.

Anwar said at the Make-A-Wish Ball at the Intercontinental Miami Hotel, “I text him all day long from the set and tell him what’s going on.” The ball’s chairman Shareef Malnik interjected by saying, “I get pictures from the set, I meet her on the set for lunch.”

The owner of Miami’s Hottest Restaurant The Forge, 52, and the British actress, 40, watch episodes of Burn Notice together when they can. Shareef says, “I’m her biggest fan.”

Fiona Glenanne, the bad-ass girlfriend of super spy Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) is played by Anwar couldn’t reveal too much information regarding the plot that show that airs Thursday at 10 P.M. Anwar would say that fans can expect lots of action. She said “I think the actual finale of the next few episodes is pretty powerful”. “It was a lot of work, there are a lot of explosions and a lot of gunpowder.”

When Malnik was asked if he was worried about the firework and explosive scenes he responded,  “I don’t,” he said, grabbing her close. “She’s pretty tough.”

The Forge Restaurant | Wine Bar by Shareef Malnik

The Forge, one of Miami’s classic restaurants, re-opened this year after a $10 million renovation. The new look is hip and sexy, but the history is intact.

“It’s come back to life and they maintained all the underground wine cellars in its true vintage look and it’s breathtaking, absolutely breathtaking. You can actually go into the cellar and have a private function,” Carvajal said.
A blacksmith turned his forge into a restaurant in the 1930s, and since then The Forge, known for its staggering 300,000 vintage wine collection, has experienced a series of glamorous rebirths.

The restaurant and wine bar hosted a welcoming event for Bosh in August and James dined there several weeks ago, according to spokeswoman Jackie Mailhe. Wade has visited many times over the years.

Famous diners have flocked to The Forge for decades: Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Elizabeth Taylor, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Al Pacino, Michael Jordan and more.

No doubt new generations of glitterati will turn up there too.

Stars Wine And Dine Amid Tight Security @ The Forge Restaurant Miami Beach

Stars Wine And Dine Amid Tight Security

Luis Miguel and Daisy Fuentes were barely spotted arriving at The Forge Restaurant | Wine Bar in Miami Beach earlier last week due to extra thick security trying to block both parties from visibility. Both came in through separate entrances, then were escorted into the private wine cellar where they hosted an intimate group for dinner. With the entire restaurant packed with diners, the more curious guest sneaked to the back of the restaurant trying to get a peek at people coming and going but were disappointed to find that the entire wing and terrace were blocked off by security. Miguel and Fuentes who have a long history of on-and off-dom, were also escorted out separately after dinner.

The Best Private Dining Experiences in Miami

The V.I.P. experience doesn’t begin at the nightclub. It starts out at the dinner table. A plethora of Miami restaurants offer exclusive back room dining, so your chicest soirees can party in private. Here are five reasons to make reservations through the back door.

The Forge wine cellarThe Forge: This year’s reinvention of Miami’s most notorious steakhouse, The Forge, was about more access and less excess. Its facelift also saw a revamp in its wine cellar, which offers a private (yet still affordable) dining experience. Dinner begins with a wine and h’ors d’oeuvres reception in the lower cellar before diners are escorted to a stunning 25-seat table, where chandeliers drip with glitz. Home to 29,000 vintage bottles from all over the world, the wine cellar is great for accommodating intimate evenings. A rental that used to run $10,000 is now available to guests for as low as $100 per person — but The Forge remains as majestic as ever.

This month, Ocean Drive celebrates its 18th anniversary by commemorating our transition from a local magazine to world-class publication. It’s a journey that parallels the evolution of South Beach itself–from a diamond in the tropical  rough to its current status as the American Riviera. This publishing milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our loyal friends and colleagues, all of whom have continuously trusted in our brand and shared our unique vision. In true Ocean Drive spirit, we’re marking this special occasion with an over-the-top event… a bash to say thanks and start the next 18 years off in style. Stay turned for more details on what is set to be a memorable evening!

In the meantime. I hope you enjoy both this Anniversary/Nightlife Issue as well as all the hot soirées unfolding  this month right in our own sweet backyard—a place where in-the-know locals and jet-setting celebrities regularly rub elbows. Look to the staff at Ocean Drive to keep you abreast of all the action in the issues ahead.

So join me in welcoming 2011 and the many great things to come. See you around town!

The Forge makes Top 38 in The Eater Blog – Hot Miami Restaurant

without comments

Here, now, is an updated version of Miami’s Eater 38, your answer and ours to any question that begins, “Can you recommend a restaurant…” This highly elite group, which is in no particular order, covers the entire city, spans myriad cuisines, histories, locations, and, collectively, satisfies all of your restaurant needs, save for those occasions when you absolutely must spend half a paycheck. Every so often we’ll be adding pertinent restaurants that were omitted, have newly become eligible, or have stepped up their game. We’ll also drop those that are no longer deemed 38-worthy. The only serious rule of engagement here is that a restaurant must be open at least six months to qualify for inclusion on the list, though strong consideration is given to neighborhood favorites over fancier destination spots.

After poring over reader emails and comments, we’ve decided to drop: News Cafe, Las Vacas Gordas, Buena Vista Bistro, La Sandwicherie, and The Cafe at Books and Books.

The great news is that in their places come: Zuma, The Forge, Ola, Gigi, and Red, The Steakhouse. Welcome to the show.

Think there’s a vital omission? Or a spot that shouldn’t be here? Nominate your favorite restaurant in the comments or here.

The Forge Restaurant | Winebar

The formerly ornate, over the top Miami Beach institution has grown up, complete with a sleek new look, new chef, new menu and–to the delight of many–no more raucous … Wednesday night parties where who was eating was more important than what they were eating. Today, instead of gawking at who’s at the table next to them, Forge customers are paying more attention to Chef Dewey LoSasso’s offbeat menu including dishes such as a burger with short ribs and lobster marmalade; and lamb ribs, shrimp waffles and fluffernutters.

Dwyane Wade Eats and Wins at The Forge, Miami Beach Best Restaurant

without comments

Maybe it was something in the food. The night before the Heat defeated the Knicks, Miami star Dwyane Wade kicked back with his girlfriend, Gabrielle Union, and three others at Chris Bosh‘s favorite restaurant, The Forge, on Monday. A spy said, “Dwyane avoided alcohol and specifically asked chef Dewey LoSasso to create a special tomato-based pasta dish for his meal while Union ordered an 8-ounce filet.” The group requested a very private table in the library where they could talk shop before the game.
